Connecting FMS Gateway Compact in a Flash: Our Simple Installation Guide for Technicians

Discover our Compact device for swift telematics installs. Technicians get installation guidance and LED feedback to prevent improper installation.

Our FMS Gateway Compact aims to simplify the installation process for our partners' technicians. This all-in-one product combines a converter and CAN bus reader into one sleek device that fits into tight spaces.

The main goal is to get these devices connected quickly and correctly on the first try. To achieve this, we provide a detailed installation guide specific to the vehicle model. This guide indicates exactly where to locate the necessary CAN wires and where to place the sensor surfaces. The Compact device also has an LED light that provides instant feedback on wiring status after the ignition is turned on.

With most installations, the LED light will glow green right away, signaling a proper CAN data connection. If not, the light's flashing frequency and color help identify potential issues so they can be addressed immediately. This avoids wasted trips back to the vehicle later on due to faulty installation.

The table below provides a quick reference to diagnose wiring and connection problems during installation based on the light signals. Most installations will result in the green light on first try, indicating smooth plug-and-play connectivity. But if any issues come up, the coded light flashes will guide the technician to identify and correct the problem efficiently.

The Compact device is one of our most popular products among technicanss due to its quick and easy installation process. The all-in-one design with built-in CAN bus reader and converter eliminates the need for two separate products, saving installers time and hassle. Its small size allows it to fit into tight spaces. Next to that the technician does not need to go through a lengthy setup and configuration process, since the Compact device automatically recognizes the vehicle it is installed in and self-configures. Once wired up, it immediately begins converting the raw CAN bus data into standardized formats without any additional programming required.

The automatic recognition and conversion capabilities are a huge benefit to installers. It saves them significant time and effort compared to devices that require manual configuration for each vehicle model. The Compact allows technicians to complete installations much more efficiently.

If you encounter installation issues despite troubleshooting based on the LED status lamp feedback, please reach out to our support team.
